    Job Purpose

    To carry out the inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, installation, testing and certification of electrical equipment and systems in accordance with company procedures, statutory regulations, site requirements and client specifications. The Electrician will ensure all electrical works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards while supporting operational performance across multiple site activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Electrical Maintenance, Inspection and Repair

    Carry out service, inspection, repair, installation, testing and fault diagnostics on a range of electrical equipment including but not limited to:

    Welding Equipment (110V to 415V)

    Fault diagnosis and repair

    Planned servicing and maintenance

    Testing, validation and certification

    Diesel Generators (110V to 415V Output)

    Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting

    Service and repair activities

    Functional testing and validation

    Distribution Panels and Transformers (415V, 230V, 110V to 25V)

    Inspection, repair and servicing

    Testing of protection devices including RCDs, RCCBs and associated systems

    Electrical integrity verification

    Compressors and Winches (415V)

    Inspection, repair and servicing

    Functional testing and load limit setup

    Maintenance to ensure safe operation

    Handheld Portable Electrical Tools and Equipment (110V+)

    Inspection, repair and maintenance of equipment ranging from pencil grinders to magnetic base drills

    Portable appliance inspection and testing

    Service and validation of electrical safety

    LEV Portable Extraction Units (110V)

    Repair and servicing

    Thorough examination and testing to maintain compliance

    Site Buildings, Cabins and Containers (230V)

    Full inspection, repair and servicing of electrical systems

    Installation of new electrical systems and modifications

    Completion of Electrical Installation Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)

    Installation and Testing

    Carry out electrical installations in accordance with BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).

    Undertake inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations and equipment.

    Complete planned preventative maintenance activities and inspection schedules.

    Ensure all maintenance, inspection and testing records are completed accurately.

    Safety and Compliance

    Work safely in accordance with company procedures, site rules and legislative requirements.

    Comply with permit to work systems, risk assessments, method statements and point of work risk assessments (POWRA).

    Follow critical task procedures and site-specific safety requirements.

    Maintain a strong safety culture and actively support behavioural safety initiatives.

    Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions or practices.

    Technical Duties

    Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, circuit diagrams and technical instructions.

    Diagnose faults and resolve electrical issues effectively and safely.

    Use appropriate tools, test equipment and machinery including drills, grinders, conduit benders and workshop equipment.

    Support installation and removal of electrical plant and systems.

    Coordinate with supervisors and other trade disciplines to ensure smooth execution of work activities.

    Documentation and Reporting

    Complete maintenance schedules, inspection sheets and electrical test certificates.

    Accurately record defects, repairs and inspection findings.

    Escalate technical issues and safety concerns to supervision where required.

    Qualifications and Training

    Essential Qualifications

    Applicants must hold one of the following:

    City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 in Electrical Installation with NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (or equivalent)

    OR

    City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Buildings and Structures) with NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (or equivalent)

    OR

    City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures)

    AND / OR

    City & Guilds 2357-13 NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment

    Mandatory Additional Certifications

    City & Guilds 2382-18 Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition BS7671)

    City & Guilds 2377-12 or 2377-22 In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT Testing)

    Preferred / Additional Qualifications

    One of the following inspection and testing qualifications:

    City & Guilds 2391-01 Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations

    City & Guilds 2391-52 Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations

    Equivalent combination qualifications (e.g. C&G 2394 & 2395)

    Preferred Training

    CCNSG Safety Passport

    IOSH Working Safely

    CSCS / ECS Card

    Site-specific critical task training

    Knowledge and Experience

    Experience working as a qualified Electrician within industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical, construction or heavy industrial environments.

    Strong understanding of electrical plant, distribution systems and protection systems.

    Knowledge of BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations.

    Experience in fault finding, inspection, testing and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment.

    Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams.
