  • About The Role

  • Project Engineer

    Altrad are currently on the lookout for an experienced Project Engineer to join the business to support the successful delivery of projects through effective operational leadership, compliance management, commercial oversight, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement across site activities.


    Key Deliverables:

    • Ensure all site operations are fully compliant with legislative, Company and Client-specific Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.

    • Champion workforce engagement and promote a strong safety-first culture across all operational activities.

    • Support the Project Manager in the successful execution and delivery of projects in line with contractual and client expectations.

    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through a clear understanding and achievement of client business goals and objectives.

    • Establish and monitor meaningful performance objectives for Supervisors and operational teams to accurately assess service delivery performance.

    • Effectively manage commercial aspects relevant to the role including productivity, non-productive time and cost control measures.

    • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives that deliver measurable operational and commercial benefits to the contract.

    • Coordinate resources effectively through close collaboration with planning teams, HR, recruitment and operational leads across multiple sites.

    • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement mitigation strategies to improve workforce productivity and output.

    • Ensure compliance with HSEQ audit schedules and oversee the implementation of improvement actions identified during audits.

    • Attend and contribute effectively to monthly contract performance reviews, taking ownership of assigned actions and deliverables.

    • Review weekly site performance reports including productivity, non-productive time, resource availability and plan attainment.

    • Schedule and facilitate structured weekly performance review meetings with site supervision teams covering HSEQ, productivity, workload, resource requirements and operational risks.

    • Support the Commercial Team in achieving project commercial targets including the submission and agreement of project variations with Clients.

    • Support Procurement activities to ensure timely ordering and delivery of project materials.

    • Participate in estimating activities for future projects and tender opportunities.

    • Liaise with Engineering and Design teams to ensure all relevant specifications, codes and client requirements are achieved.

    • Support the coordination, supervision and performance management of subcontractors across project activities.

    • Attend and contribute effectively to strategic management meetings with Clients and Senior Leadership Teams.


    Key Requirements:

    • HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering.

    • HSEQ qualification such as IOSH or equivalent.

    • Recognised Management qualification.

    • Demonstrable experience within Operations Management in an industrial, engineering, construction or energy environment.

    • Proven track record of delivering excellent safety performance and operational compliance.

    • Comprehensive understanding and successful delivery of projects within operational environments.

    • Experience producing and presenting detailed contract performance reports.

    • Ability to identify, develop and manage performance improvement programmes.

    • Good commercial awareness with understanding of productivity and cost control principles.

    • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, subcontractors and operational resources.

    • Good understanding of NEC and Logic forms of contract.

    • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

    • Competent in Microsoft Office applications relevant to the role.
