  • Erector Advanced

    Position Overview

    The Erector Advanced carries out lifting and erection operations safely at designated site locations. This role follows all company, local, and legal procedures for rigging, lifting, and steelwork, ensuring high standards of quality and safety at every stage. The Erector Advanced works under the direction of the Site Manager and receives technical guidance from the Rigging/Lifting Supervisor.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Carry out lifting, erecting, and rigging activities in accordance with project requirements and legislative standards.
    • Prepare the work area and equipment for safe operations.
    • Select and inspect appropriate lifting gear and rigging equipment for each task.
    • Read and interpret arrangement and isometric drawings.
    • Set up and execute complex, critical, or heavy lifting operations, including steelwork, pressure piping, vessels, tanks, headers, and drums.
    • Follow critical task procedures as instructed by the appointed person.
    • Accept and work under site safety permits as required.
    • Operate mobile cranes, very heavy lift cranes, and overhead cranes, if authorized and trained.
    • Guide crane operators using standard hand/voice signals as needed.
    • Carry out flame cutting operations as required for structural and rigging tasks.
    • Operate and actively monitor a lifting equipment register, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Report operational performance and participate in continual monitoring of project tasks and project progress.
    • Mentor and guide trainees in erecting and rigging skills.
    • Support the achievement of team tasks and targets set by the supervisor.
    • Recommend improvements and contribute to cost-effective project execution.
    • Comply with all health and safety policies, promptly reporting hazards or incidents.
    • Maintain general housekeeping and uphold site safety at all times.

    Scope of the Role

    • Reports to the Site Rigging/Lifting Supervisor and Technical Authority.
    • Receives direction from Site Manager and section engineers.
    • Interfaces with project clients, sub-contractors, and regulators as needed.
    • No direct team management duties.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • General high school education or equivalent.
    • Full apprenticeship in a relevant trade, or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3, Ace Card, or equivalent in Erecting or Moving Loads, as appropriate for assigned tasks.
    • Valid safety passport for industrial sites.
    • Relevant crane operation certifications when required for site crane work.
    • Critical Task and Human Performance training as required.
    • Minimum two years' experience performing heavy and complex lifting and erection operations, including steelwork and mechanical installation.
    • Demonstrated experience with cranes, rigging, and complex lifting equipment in sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, thermal, or nuclear environments.
    • Sound understanding and application of lifting categories, equipment, and safe work practices.

    Other Requirements

    • Ability to plan and supervise lifts, including those using sub-contract mobile and very heavy lift cranes.
    • Ability to operate overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in flame cutting, steel erection, and rigging techniques as needed for project delivery.
    • Consistently communicates and coordinates with clients, regulators, and on-site project teams.
    • Demonstrates strong commitment to health and safety policies and procedures.
