  • Supervisor - Mechanical

    Position Summary

    Supervise mechanical fitting teams to deliver high-quality work and safe site operations. Ensure all work follows company, contractual, legislative, and safety procedures. Coordinate task allocation, monitor progress, and drive continual improvement and team performance.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Allocate and monitor mechanical fitting activities to ensure safe, timely, and productive completion of work
    • Implement and reinforce site safety procedures, including risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes
    • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and communicate key safety messages
    • Observe all site activities for hazard awareness and continually reinforce safety initiatives
    • Drive performance, monitor job progress, and report as required by site contract and management
    • Plan, organise, and execute assigned work to achieve safety, productivity, and quality standards
    • Support site managers, engineers, and other supervisors to employ effective operational methods
    • Ensure full adherence to critical task procedures
    • Complete all required administrative tasks promptly and accurately
    • Monitor and ensure quality standards by applying quality procedures and reporting issues for resolution
    • Address first-line disciplinary, grievance, and performance management issues
    • Coach and mentor team members, supporting their ongoing development
    • Share lessons learned and best practices
    • Estimate, order, and manage mechanical-related consumables and equipment, ensuring material traceability
    • Ensure proper records are kept, including post-job assessments for all personnel

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • General high school education
    • Recognized apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in mechanical fitting or equivalent
    • Relevant safety passport or safety management training (such as CCNSG, IOSH Managing Safely, or NEBOSH Certification)
    • Several years of experience in advanced mechanical fitting, including one year as a chargehand or supervisor
    • Substantial experience supervising mechanical activities in industrial settings (such as manufacturing, thermal, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or nuclear environments)
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams
    • Strong understanding of mechanical fitting practices, quality procedures, and continuous improvement processes
    • Effective communication skills for interfacing with site managers, engineers, customers, subcontractors, and regulators
    • Ability to adapt to change, identify process improvements, and implement operational best practices
