    Location: Site Based

    Position Summary

    The Supervisor – Plater oversees the activities of plater teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality plating, fabrication, and installation work on site. This role enforces company and legislative standards for safety, quality, and operational processes, while meeting project contractual requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Allocate, plan, and monitor plating and fabrication tasks for team members to achieve required performance and productivity levels.
    • Communicate work instructions and site objectives clearly and directly to the team.
    • Monitor worksite safety by implementing and enforcing risk assessments, method statements, permit to work systems, and safety procedures.
    • Deliver toolbox talks and share safety information, toolbox topics, and site-specific safety messages.
    • Drive the completion of work scopes, ensuring tasks meet schedule, safety, and quality standards.
    • Supervise adherence to critical task procedures and contract requirements at all stages of work.
    • Maintain hazard awareness, report safety issues, and reinforce safe behaviors using error prevention tools.
    • Use improvement observation processes to identify and report opportunities for safer or more efficient work practices.
    • Conduct post-job assessments and contribute to lessons learned and best practice sharing.
    • Monitor, review, and record team performance and productivity, reporting progress as required.
    • Assist engineers and other supervisors in planning and delivering operational methods to meet project requirements.
    • Identify and address disciplinary, grievance, or performance management issues within the team.
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and regulators to resolve technical, safety, or quality matters.
    • Estimate, order, and manage plating, fabrication, and mechanical consumables and equipment for work scopes.
    • Ensure traceability of materials, plant items, and consumables used.
    • Coach and mentor team members to support development and ongoing competency.
    • Promote a positive safety culture and compliance with all site and company policies and standards.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • General education to at least high school level.
    • Completed full apprenticeship in a plating or relevant fabrication trade or equivalent vocational qualification.
    • Hold a valid safety passport or completion of relevant site safety training.
    • Have a recognized supervisory management qualification or equivalent experience.
    • Demonstrate at least three years’ advanced hands-on experience as a plater, with at least one year of supervisory or chargehand experience.
    • Possess significant experience in plating or fabrication within industrial, manufacturing, thermal, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or nuclear environments.
    • Understand and apply safety, quality, and operational requirements in a site environment.
    • Display sound knowledge of human performance and continuous improvement principles for site operations.
    • Demonstrate the ability to estimate material requirements and manage on-site resources.
    • Show a track record in coaching and mentoring team members for ongoing competence and safety awareness.
