Position:  Site Operative

Position Summary

Semi Skilled and Site Operatives support tradespeople and supervisors by performing a broad range of site-based tasks. These include material movement, work area preparation, and supporting various trades. Specific role titles include Site Operative, Pipefitter’s Mate, Welder’s Mate, Rigger’s Mate, Firewatcher, Forklift Driver, and Store Operative.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, clean, and reinstate work areas.
• Transport materials using suitable methods such as forklifts where licensed to do so.
• Gather, move, and set up tools, equipment, and materials from stores.
• Support work undertaken by tradespeople on site.
• Operate stores in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor the work area, report safety concerns, and take appropriate action.
• Follow instructions from chargehand, supervisor, or tradespeople accurately and promptly.
• Meet assigned performance targets and complete required tasks to standard.
• Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including understanding and using permits to work and risk assessments.
• Apply processes for controlling and using welding consumables and other site-specific materials.
• Set up and maintain site equipment and ensure its correct use.
• Identify and use the correct equipment as required for specific site tasks.
• Carry out fire watcher or forklift duties where trained and required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold a valid Safety Passport or equivalent Health and Safety training.
• Demonstrate a working understanding of human performance in an industrial or construction environment.
• Benefit from experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, thermal, or nuclear sectors.
• Complete mandatory training courses, including fire watcher and any role-specific critical task training.

• Carry out point of work risk assessments before starting each task.
• Maintain constructive relationships and contribute positively to team goals and site operations.
