Scaffold Supervisor - Didcot

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Scaffold Supervisor to join the team at Harwell for the upcoming project.

The work pattern for this position is, Monday – Thursday, 38 hours. This is a fixed term position which requires BPSS clearance to be held or be willing to undergo. Starting 16^th November 2026 until 11^th March 2027 approx.

Travelling Labour is accepted for this position. Pay rate: £25.05 per hour

Key Deliverables:

• Understand company and client safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all employees under your control understands and adhere to the policies and procedures.
• Align personal and employee daily practices and behaviours with Altrad Values
• Ensure all employees comply with Company, Client, and Project PPE Standards
• Use Digital Systems provided to maximise time in field for compliance, safety performance, retention of records, progress, and productivity tracking for continuous improvements.
• Ensure compliance with AIMS-SOP-24-17 for Scaffold Design procedures are adhered to for execution and escalate any omissions from work packs to the Scoper for future pack preparation.
• Provide clear direction of Design compliance requirements to teams under your control.
• Ensure that all relevant documentation is in place in accordance with work, project, and outage procedures.
• Initiate and participate in pre-job briefs and toolbox talks.
• Discuss working methods with the Site team and where necessary consult the company technical/ safety department to determine adequate safe systems of work.
• Assess the pre-job risk assessments conducted by team leaders, to ensure sufficient controls/protections are in place and that potential hazards are eliminated or controlled.
• Plan and maintain a good housekeeping regime, ensuring that working areas are always in a clean and tidy condition.
• Ensure employees, are not exposed to any hazardous substances or environments without suitable and sufficient controls put in place.
• Ensure employees do not complete tasks for which they have not been adequately trained.
• Actively monitor work practices and coach employees to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance.
• Not indulge in any horseplay or interfere with or misuse any plant, equipment or anything provided in the interest of health, safety, or welfare
• Identify and escalate any significant risk to the health and safety of employees or third parties, who may be affected by the company’s acts or omissions.
• Report all accidents and incidents immediately to the Site Manager
• Plan and organize work to meet contract time schedule and maximize the efficiency and productivity of the workforce. Monitor progress and provide feedback on any issues that may impact on schedule, budget or other areas of the project or operation.
• Attend all relevant planning, safety, and operational meetings as directed.
• Ensure Digital Daily Allocations submitted, in line with scopes of works. Ensuring resource allocation hours and task progress updated daily for all works under your control in line with company direction. Alternative methods of providing updates to the planner and site manager may be used when digital systems are not available.
• As directed, Prepare Scoping activities and prepare work packs in accordance with AIMS-SOP-24-17 for Scaffold Design completing AIMS-SOP-24-14 Design Requisition forms and submitting to Altrad Engineering team as required.
• EnsureAIMS-SOP-24-17 for Scaffold Designcompliance procedures are adhered to for Inspections of all structures.
• Complete Scaffold Inspections using Digital Systems when available. Ensure Inspectionsare completed in accordance with Altrad AIMS-SOP-24-13. Where authorised and instructed additional information may be required such as As-Built Measurements, Photos, Geo-Location Tagging, Etc.
• Inspection & Safe use of safety harnesses, following AIMS-SOP-24-01
• Work in accordance with established procedure, specification, and specialised technical standards
• Regularly assess and review performance with employees, taking prompt action to resolve any issues.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

• CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor Card (or a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Gold Card paired with a Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme - SSSTS or Site Management Safety Training Scheme - SMSTS ticket).
• Minimum 5+ years of scaffolding industry experience with recent on-site leadership or gang-foreman background.
• Strong working knowledge of current UK standards and legislation, including TG20 (Technical Guidance on tube and fitting scaffolding) and SG4 (Safety Guidance for scaffolding fall arrest).
• Ability to interpret complex technical plans, scaffolding diagrams, and design drawings.
• Hold or be willing to undergo BPSS Clearance.
