Planning and Consenting Lead - Glasgow

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Planning and Consenting Lead to join the team.

As a Planning and Consenting Lead, you will work collaboratively with client-side teams, technical services, and design and construction partners to ensure that all future planning and consenting activities are strategically coordinated, compliant with relevant legislation and aligned with programme objectives.

Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days on site.

Key Deliverables:

• Provide strategic planning and consenting advice to programme leadership, project teams and senior stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and oversight of planning and consenting activities throughout the project and programme lifecycle.
• Identify and manage planning and consenting risks, opportunities and requirements to support effective programme and project delivery.
• Develop and coordinate planning and consenting strategies in collaboration with design, engineering, construction, environmental and other technical teams.
• Ensure planning and consenting requirements are appropriately considered and integrated into project and programme development.
• Oversee the preparation, coordination and quality of documentation required to support planning, consenting and approval processes.
• Ensure relevant planning, environmental, regulatory and consenting requirements are understood and appropriately addressed.
• Lead and support engagement with internal and external stakeholders on planning and consenting matters.
• Develop and support consultation and engagement strategies, ensuring appropriate stakeholder involvement and compliance with relevant requirements.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with planning authorities, regulators, statutory consultees, government bodies and other relevant stakeholders.
• Provide planning and consenting input into design development, project planning, programme governance and strategic decision-making.
• Monitor changes in planning, consenting and regulatory requirements and assess their potential impact on projects and programmes.
• Provide planning and consenting updates, advice and recommendations through programme reporting and governance processes.
• Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure planning and consenting considerations are effectively managed and aligned with wider project and programme objectives.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

Essential

• Chartered planner or equivalent professional (e.g. RTPI or equivalent) with a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of securing and managing planning, consenting and environmental approval strategies for major infrastructure programmes of significant scale and complexity.
• Experience of providing strategic planning and consenting advice to senior programme leadership and influencing key investment and delivery decisions.
• Experience of operating within major programme governance and assurance frameworks, including management of strategic risks and opportunities.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with regulators, statutory consultees, government departments and external stakeholders.
• Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating specialist technical inputs to support programme delivery.
• Knowledge of planning appeals, judicial review and other legal processes associated with major infrastructure consenting.
• Ability to communicate complex planning and regulatory matters to executive-level audiences and support informed decision-making.

• Additional chartered status, professional membership or recognised accreditation with a relevant body (e.g. IEMA, CIWEM, CEnv or equivalent).
• Experience supporting business case development, investment approvals and strategic decision-making processes for major programmes.
• Experience working in secure or highly regulated operating environments requiring the management of complex stakeholder, regulatory and assurance requirements
