Workshops Technical Coordinator

The main purpose of the role is to provide technical and administrative support to P & M workshops to meet crane/mechanical handling repair, operation, and maintenance objectives.

Main responsibilities

Technical:

• Provide technical support and guidance to Fluid Power workshops carrying out hydraulic pump and motor refurbishment activities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all technical and workshop-related queries from engineering teams.
• Prepare, issue, and maintain Job Cards for refurbishment work to ensure accurate planning and execution.
• Support the Workshop Planner in developing and maintaining refurbishment schedules to achieve delivery targets.

Engineering:

• Prepare and review Workshop CTRs for submission and presentation to internal engineering teams.
• Raise and process purchase requisitions in accordance with company procedures.
• Coordinate equipment dispatch, transportation, and associated logistics to ensure timely delivery.
• Compile comprehensive strip-down reports and issue them to engineering teams for technical review and approval.
• Support the Workshop Manager in ensuring all planned maintenance activities within the Pump & Motor workshops are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workshop processes, procedures, and best practices to enhance quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

HSEQ responsibilities

• It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
• The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience

• Technical knowledge with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Practical understanding of hydraulic pump and motor refurbishment, fluid power systems, or rotating equipment is highly desirable.
• Ability to apply technical expertise to support workshop supervisors in meeting demanding project schedules and customer deadlines.
• Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong Problem-solving skills with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
