  • About The Role

  • Altrad are seeking an experienced and technically capable Construction Manager N1 to support the delivery of HVAC installation activities within the MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C.

    This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and is a site delivery position, requiring the ability to work under programme and schedule pressure to resolve technical issues and maintain continuity of installation activities. Working as part of the wider MEH construction leadership team and reporting to the Mechanical Lead, you will support the safe and efficient delivery of HVAC installation through to handover to commissioning, while ensuring effective integration with other disciplines and areas of the project.

    Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:

    • Support the installation activities of the HPC MEH HVAC scope on site through collaboration and coordination with site teams, through to handover to commissioning.
    • Work effectively under programme and schedule pressure to identify and unblock technical issues, maintaining continuity of work for installation teams.
    • Support the Mechanical Lead and wider MEH construction leadership team in the delivery of HVAC installation activities.
    • Work collaboratively with counterparts across the other MEH disciplines to ensure effective integration and coordination.
    • Support Area and Building Leads and Construction Engineers with day-to-day construction planning, engineering and works progression.
    • Utilise the TVPM to drive safety, quality and production performance across HVAC installation activities.
    • Take accountability for the delivery of discipline-specific Construction Work Pack scopes to support MEH construction activities.
    • Ensure pre-construction and installation activities are intrinsically linked, working with Building Engineers where required to facilitate efficient sequencing.
    • Manage project change within the HVAC discipline, ensuring the appropriate project change process is followed, including construction documentation and contractual scope changes.
    • Manage technical issues relating to HVAC installation and construction activities.
    • Prepare documentation required for HVAC erection and installation activities, ensuring all documentation complies with the latest Works Information and relevant MEH requirements.
    • Support Technical Queries and drive the resolution of construction Open Points.
    • Coordinate engineering activities required to support the construction sequence.
    • Identify and implement improvements to construction processes and ways of working, including site-based redlining processes.
    • Ensure the requirements of post-construction activities are incorporated into the construction sequence.
    • Support the completion team with requirements such as Commissioning Test Pack review and acceptance.
    • Maintain effective communication with construction, engineering, planning, quality and commissioning teams to support coordinated delivery.
    • Ensure HVAC installation activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project procedures, specifications and quality requirements.

    Key Requirements / Qualifications:

    • Degree in a relevant construction discipline or HVAC engineering with extensive experience working in a similar role; or
    • 10 years’ experience in a site construction management role.
    • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and installation.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of CDM Regulations.
    • CCNSG Safety Passport or MAPS.
    • Capable of obtaining BPSS or higher security clearance.
    • Proven experience in safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects, including experience working at a management level of authority.
    • Experience within the heavy industry or nuclear sectors is beneficial.
    • Experience working within Joint Venture environments is advantageous.
    • Strong technical understanding of HVAC installation and construction activities.
    • Ability to work effectively under programme pressure and resolve technical issues to maintain installation progress.
    • Strong communication, coordination and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary site teams.
