Material Engineer - Bridgwater

The Material Engineer is responsible for providing accurate visibility, traceability, and reporting of material status across VCAP and building locations to support effective discipline planning and workface productivity. Working closely with discipline teams, the role ensures material priorities are aligned with plans and champions the consistent use of AssetTagz for material receipting, dispatching, and status updates, and enables the right material to be available in the right location at the right time, first time, to support safe and efficient project delivery. 

• Carry a positive HS&E outlook, while representing and promoting a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the project.
• Embedded within multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams to understand material requirements, priorities, and technical constraints, supporting project delivery through regular engagement and attendance at planning and coordination meetings. 
• Liaise daily with procurement, logistics, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules, specifications, and installation requirements. 
• Act as the principal point for all material matters within assigned areas, ensuring materials received meet requirements before acceptance. 
• Carry out material traceability actions on HPC recognised custody chain digital tool to ensure compliance with project requirements. 
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of materials, storage locations, and work areas to confirm material condition, identification, and availability for construction activities. 
• Collaborate with construction disciplines to investigate material-related issues and provide clear understanding of material readiness state. 
• Support in producing regular reports on material status, location and readiness to support project planning and execution activities. 
• Conduct material status updates on HPC recognised material custody chain tool from delivery to VCAP, Building and room through to installation to accurately report material location.  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to material handling and storage to improve project performance and reduce risk.
• Knowledge of Construction M&E disciplines and related material: A good understanding of the various material disciplines within the (nuclear) construction industry, standards and expected material handling and storage requirements.  
• Experience of construction procurement or warehouse asset management.  
• Proven track record of material /asset management and general understanding of a quality driven process to ensure lifetime quality records are recorded and maintained throughout out the ‘end to end’ process.  
• Key Performance Indicator Input and Reporting. Record and input data related to weekly and Monthly KPIs to assess and highlight shortfalls in overall process to allow, improve and enhance process and structure.  
• Health and Safety: Reporting on and providing feedback on the organization's efforts to promote environmentally sustainable practices in relation to plant and equipment. This includes energy-saving initiatives, waste reduction measures, and environmental impact assessments.  
• Coordination and Collaboration Recording: Providing feedback on, and document collaborative efforts with other departments, such as production, engineering, and logistics. Reporting on joint projects, improvements in coordination, and shared successes.  
• Documentation and Records Management: Ensuring all relevant documentation, records, and reports are organised and readily accessible for audits, inspections, or reference purposes.
