Role Details:
The Civil/Structural Engineer is a key onsite full-time role. The post holder will be responsible for the civil and structural engineering requirements whilst working as part of the Defence team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify project functional requirements, Works Information, preparation of GI specifications, responding to Technical Queries, Requests for Information (RFI) for the project.
- Manage engineering support to the project.
- Support project optioneering process.
- Review and accept project drawings and documentation.
- Manage detailed design activities in accordance with project standards.
- Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
- Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning (as required).
- Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
- Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.
- The post holder will be expected to support delivery within their range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.
- Contribute to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.
Additional tasks may be specified as required within the overall envelope of provision. Any engagement of this nature will be agreed on a task-by-task basis as part of the role. The role will involve leading and coordinating this interface within the wider Joint Project Team (JPT)
Key Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience of developing design assurance for complex projects
- Experience in civil engineering for complex projects
- Experience in stakeholder engagement throughout the engineering lifecycle
- UK National with SC Clearance. Demonstrable suitable qualifications and experience relating to marine and mechanical engineering. Accredited Degree in an appropriate ‘STEM’ discipline (or equivalent qualification and experience)

- Experience in a defence sector.
