C&I Senior Engineer
Altrad Babcock are currently looking for a C&I Senior Engineer to join the business to provide technical expertise across Control & Instrumentation and Telecoms engineering activities, delivering engineering solutions that meet project, client, regulatory, and business requirements. The role will be responsible for leading allocated engineering work scopes, supporting project delivery, and supervising engineering personnel where required.
Key Deliverables:
• Technically responsible for all allocated C&I and Telecoms engineering activities.
• Supervise, review, and check engineering deliverables including Philosophies, Specifications, Shutdown Cause & Effect Charts, Schedules, Drawings, Diagrams, Datasheets, and Technical Requisitions.
• Formulate and deliver technical solutions to complex engineering issues, liaising effectively with Clients, Project Management, and Senior Management.
• Delegate supervision and checking activities to suitably qualified personnel where appropriate.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies and deviations from project scope, proposals, and contracts through technical queries and stakeholder engagement.
• Deliver Safety Lifecycle Documentation in accordance with IEC 61511 requirements where applicable.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and vendor inspections.
• Support multidisciplinary engineering design reviews and ensure timely close-out of actions.
• Develop and maintain Master Document Registers (MDRs) and engineering deliverable schedules.
• Plan and manage engineering activities, resource requirements, deliverables, and man-hour budgets.
• Provide regular project controls, progress updates, and reporting to Project Management.
• Support procurement activities through preparation of Technical Requisitions, review of vendor documentation, and Technical Bid Evaluations.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Identify and recommend cost-effective improvements to equipment selection and technical specifications.
• Support Quality Assurance activities and ensure compliance with Project Quality Plans, Design Integrity procedures, and ISO quality requirements.
• Support project execution, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
• Perform additional engineering duties as directed by the E,C&I Group Manager.
Key Requirements:
• BSc/BEng Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, or similar process industries.
• Strong understanding of C&I and Telecoms engineering principles and project delivery processes.
• Experience developing and reviewing engineering design documentation and technical deliverables.
• Knowledge and application of IEC 61511 Functional Safety and Safety Lifecycle requirements.
• Understanding of British Standards, international engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in engineering resource planning, project execution, and multidisciplinary team working.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organisational, and time management skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT skills and experience using engineering software, databases, spreadsheets, and design tools.
• Leadership capability with the ability to supervise, mentor, and delegate effectively.
