Job Overview

The Pipefitter installs, maintains, and repairs piping systems at the Syngenta site in Huddersfield. This role works with a variety of pipe materials and supports safe, reliable operations by performing high-quality work in accordance with safety guidelines and technical standards.

Job Duties

• Interpret and follow piping plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools.
• Assemble, install, and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.
• Join pipes using welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, and mechanical methods.
• Install and maintain pipe supports, valves, and related systems.
• Inspect and test piping systems for leaks, pressure, and proper functionality.
• Remove, replace, or repair defective or worn pipe sections and fittings.
• Apply insulation and protective coatings to piping systems when required.
• Work safely in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial plant environments.
• Comply with site-specific and industry safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain documentation of work performed, inventories, and materials used.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other maintenance professionals.
• Participate in emergency repairs and on-call support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a pipefitter in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematics.
• Skilled in the safe use of pipefitting tools and equipment.
• Experience with industrial piping materials, such as steel, stainless steel, copper, and plastic.
• Knowledge of welding techniques, including arc, TIG, and MIG welding.
• Understanding of site safety standards and practices for hazardous environments.
• Physical fitness to perform demanding, hands-on work, including lifting and working in confined spaces.
• Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks to a high standard.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Recognized trade qualification or completed apprenticeship in pipefitting or mechanical fitting.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as required by site needs.
