Welding Supervisor - Bridgwater Projects

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Welder Supervisor to join the team at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom for the ongoing project within Special Projects.

This role will involve working 10:15-hour shifts on a 10/4 shift pattern, with start date to be confirmed. The position is paid under SSA agreements, with lodge and travel paid where applicable. Pay rate: £33.23 basic/h. Possible opportunity to work on a non-working day at OT rates. Overtime will not come into effect until your first full working week.

      Key Accountabilities: 

• Lead and supervise site welding operations, ensuring safe and effective task execution.
• Deliver toolbox talks and promote safety culture, including hazard awareness and error prevention.
• Plan and allocate workloads, monitor performance, and maintain productivity across the welding team.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, carry out inspections, and manage weld documentation and traceability.
• Support investigations into weld repairs and share lessons learned through internal processes.
• Liaise with engineers and subcontractors to coordinate activities such as NDT, heat treatment, and materials supply.
• Manage consumables and equipment, including estimation, ordering, and storage.
• Handle first-line personnel issues, assessments, and reporting to senior management.

  Key Qualifications:

• 3 years experience as a production welder with 6 months experience in operating welding stores.
• 1 year experience as a charge hand
• Knowledge on how to use Internal Welding system
• Working knowledge / experience of , MMA, FCAW, MIG and applications
• Experience of supervising in manufacturing, thermal, petrochemical and nuclear environments.
• Basic estimation and ordering of welding consumables via materials control.
• Ordering and deploying welding power sources and ancillary equipment.
• Mentoring and coaching trainees.  
• Full Apprenticeship in welding or NVQ 3 or equivalent in Welding
• NVQ / QCF 3 or above in Supervisory Management
• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
• ECITB SMTD Modules as required
• CCNSG Safety Passport and IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Cert
