  • About The Role

  • Altrad are currently looking for a Senior Operations Manager to join the team based in Selby. 
     
    The successful candidate will be accountable for the operational performance of the regional mechanical portfolio, ensuring consistent delivery standards, resource optimisation and best practice across all contracts, projects and outage activities, working within budget parameters and to the appropriate quality standards in accordance with legislation, Altrad policy and Client specified contractual requirements.
     
    Key Deliverables: 
     
    • Leading an organisation that is invested in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) and demonstrates exemplary Health and Safety standards across the Contract range. 
    • Ensuring work scope, programme quality standards and budget for the successful execution of the contracts are established and managed.
    • Support the Regional General Manager in securing new business opportunities and contract extensions.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key client stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities for additional service lines, outage work, projects and framework agreements.
    • Ensuring all employees/subcontractors on the Contracts are effectively managed
    • Lead by example, setting the highest standards in safety, quality, compliance and professional conduct.
    • Act as the senior operational interface with key clients.
    • Lead client performance reviews and ensure contractual obligations are achieved.
    • Drive client satisfaction and retention through proactive engagement.
    • Demonstrate effective leadership and governance across all operational management systems including safety, quality, planning, resource management, commercial control, supply chain management and performance reporting.
    • To ensure regular monitoring and/or audit of the performance of all aspects of the operation to ensure successful outcome of the contracts or take corrective action accordingly.
    • Accountable for achieving agreed revenue, margin and cash performance targets.
    • To ensure that the appropriate management systems, work processes and procedures are complied with.
    • To ensure that an adequate system of reporting controls is in place for all key aspects of contracts.
    • Create a high-performance culture that promotes collaboration, accountability and employee engagement.
    • To handle effective recruitment, appraisal, and disciplinary/grievance hearings/appeals.
    • To ensure that effective working relationships are maintained between all staff and appropriate client representatives.
    • To present effective information orally and in writing to subordinate's management and clients.
    Key Requirements / Qualifications:
     
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Proven experience as a Operations Manager or similar role in an industrial or power generation environment.
    • Strong knowledge of management principles, practices, and methodologies.
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to plan, organise, and execute complex projects within tight timelines.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on collaboration and achieving results.
    • Sound understanding of safety and risk management principles in outage environments.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project and business requirements.
    • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the legal, practical and company safety requirements.
    • NVQ 3 or 4 in Management
    • Master's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Experience in managing outage events for power plants or heavy industrial facilities is advantageous.
    • Professional certifications in project management or related fields are desirable.
    • Experience in Initiating, developing, and operating a culture of continuous improvement through KPI’s, Leading Indicators etc.
